Thursday humor:

Iron man baby:

Potty tunes:

You're welcome.

Changes on the horizon...

I am not the biggest fan of change.  Is this news to you?  Maybe, usually I can roll with the punches, and I feel like I'm usually up for a new adventure or challenge.  But I'm also a creature of habit and routine.  How do they coexist within me?  Beats me.  But I also feel like this is something that is probably true for most people.
But when it comes to major, life changes.  I'm a procrastinator.  No, worse, I drag my feet.  You know that feeling of making your whole body go completely limp and as heavy as possible (maybe when your parents were dragging you in from the car as a child and you were sleeping/not sleeping), that's what I do.
So I find myself in the face of a major-ish change.  It feels a little like standing at the edge of a cliff.  Jump or get pushed?
I think it is probably easier to jump.  But I'm sort of a 'get pushed' kind of gal.  The best/worst part is nothing is really changing until the beginning of next year.  So I have time.  Time to prepare myself for the push.  Get my ducks in a row etc.  I mean isn't that the best case scenario, to know its coming so you can be totally prepared? But to me it kind of feels like slow torture.
Luckily I have an incredibly supportive husband who is excited for our new adventure, even when I'm not and/or I'm totally freaking out.  He is also incredibly organized and efficient (opposites attract) so we have lists of what we want, what we need and next steps.
Now I'm just trying to find a balance between excitement and stress.  And I'm hoping that since I have so much time to prepare for the inevitable "push off the cliff" that when that time gets here I will be ready to just jump.

And because its Thursday, and this entire post has to do with my work life, and it was five years ago today:
I give you graduation day.  Where the crazy journey ended, but really only began...

Just a few pictures...

Heading to t-ball last week

They just love each other so much.  Scott is always the protector, Owen wants to do EVERYTHING Scott does and looks up to him so much.

Rockin' it at t-ball:

Juice, swords and snacks....enjoyed atop a boogie board of course.

And we had some friends stop by recently:

The three musketeers.  Friends since birth.  This afternoon they played pirates (duh!) and raced up and down the hill and across the yard more times than I can count.  Scott was Jake.  So was Parker.  Parker was also Captain Hook and Cubby.  Zoey was Izzy (Iz for short which both of the boys called her, hilarious).  At the top of the hill they would sing the theme song to Jake and the Neverland Pirates.  Then one of them would say "I see Captain Hook, I see."  And they would take off across the yard.
I have the video of this on my phone so once I get it onto the computer I will have to upload it.  Its awesome.  And loud.

I get it...

I haven't bought new jeans in years.  Years and years.  Maybe almost a decade.  Weird right? because I'm a shopper.
In my defense I have been pregnant and/or losing baby weight for the last 4 years, which makes buying new jeans pointless.  My solution:  I just don't wear jeans.  Ever.  All fall and winter you can find me in leggings, skirts and let's face it 90% of the time I wear yoga pants anyways.  So I've been getting away with it.  But not without complaint.  When we go out anywhere that requires something more than yoga pants you can usually find me throwing piles of clothes on the bed that I tried on and didn't work.
"I have nothing to wear."
Brian's favorite thing to hear.
Not.
And for the last two years I've told Brian that I want new jeans for my birthday, "but not until I'm not pregnant/I've lost the baby weight".
To complicate matters I have always had a hard time justifying the pricey brands.  I have wanted to, but couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger.  And after trying on the cheaper brands and not liking them, I just convinced myself I didn't like the way jeans looked on me.  Period.  And I just wasn't gonna wear them.
So I found myself shopping alone with a girlfriend last weekend (bliss, we had lunch out (my fave vegan restaurant) then hit up Nordstrom and then out for iced tea, bliss I tell ya).  And she convinced me to try on jeans.  I didn't even know where to begin.  I had no idea what size I am, what's trendy right now, what "washes" I like, any of it. So I brought like 8 pairs into the fitting room and went to town.  Round one was unsuccessful as every pair I brought was too big (and that's a pretty sweet feeling after working hard at the gym for months and months, to be just a size or two smaller than I thought felt nice, not that I think size or weight matters but the baby weight doesn't just fall off of me, I work at it).  Andy, my lovely shopping co-conspirator and soul sista, helped me narrow down what was cute and currently fashionable, and even convinced me to take the plunge and buy them. It helped that I got a killer deal on my two pairs of "expensive" jeans, but I left feeling excited.
I wore them for the first time to work this morning and let me tell ya: I get it now.  Nice jeans...totally worth it.  They fit well, they are the most comfortable things in the world, rivaling yoga pants, and that's saying something.   And I feel a little bit like I have graduated into the grown up world.

But if you think that means I'm retiring my yoga pants (for everything except yoga/working out of course) you are dead wrong.

Enjoyin' August

The weather has been unseasonably AMAZING this week. 70s and 80s plus breezy plus marine layer in the mornings.  Its my perfect weather.  I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high that we are just going to transition this right into fall (did I mention yet that I'm already dreaming of fall? Because I am).  We are, however, taking advantage of this awesomeness and enjoy each day we can get before the ungodly heat inevitable sets in.
This includes daily trips to the park...

and a brand new swimming pool for the backyard (salt in the wound for Brian who is missing our old pool pretty stinkin' bad these days)

pizza picnics...

and Starbucks dates while Owen is napping in the car on the way to soccer.  Thank goodness for drive throughs on days like this.

FISH FACE! LOVE IT!

And for fun a little peak into how we begin (and usually how we end) our days.  A little wrestling:

They are just so big!

We plan to enjoy the heck out of the rest of our summer and we are super excited that fall is just around the corner.  I can almost smell (and taste) the pumpkin already!!!

House-a-versary

One year ago today was our first full day in our 'new' house.  The boys and I headed over the night of the 3rd (Brian had been sleeping at the house for a night or two doing some unpacking) and we made it official.  Can't believe its already been a year.  We are loving it as much, probably more, than when we first moved in.  It seems like we find new treasures in our area nearly every week.  We love our house and our neighborhood, it definitely feels like home!

T-ball Ya'll

In case we weren't doing enough summer activities, T-ball is now is full swing.  I got to take Scott this week (I missed last week because I was getting a few patients in  before we headed out of town to camp) with the help of Grandpa, who is in town visiting.

It took a few minutes of coaxing (felt like 45 minutes, but the class is only 45 minutes and Scott participated in almost all of it, I'm was feeling dramatic) for Scott to get excited to play, but once he did he had a great time.

They practiced catching ground balls...

They did some throwing drills...

Batting practice (with grandpa's help)...

They ran the bases (during which time the only one to follow directions and run the bases correctly was the only little girl in the class....hmmm the girl being the only one good at listening and following directions....that's weird?!?!! Sarcasm.  It makes TOTAL sense to me.  Wink.)

There is even a little boy in class with us who's mommy and I did prenatal yoga together when we were pregnant with them.  Small world.  And my how time has flown by.

After class Owen was up to bat.  I think this kid is just a little excited for his turn for summer sports in a few years.
