Touch-a-Truck

We had so much fun today taking Scott to Touch-a-Truck. We had only just heard about it about a week ago but have definitely been looking forward to today all week. Scott really likes trucks, when we pass them, or they pass us on the freeway he yells out "tuugck" and points. So all week we have been talking about what kinds of trucks we might see. I heard it was a great event but that was an understatement. It was completely awesome! I was expecting five or six trucks, hoping for a firetruck at least and maybe a dump truck that would go up and down....there were probably 20 or 30 trucks, a couple boats, firetrucks, police cars, buses, we even got to see a helicopter land! Wow, wow, wow!

We got there early which was great (and what I would recommend if you attend in the future), it wasn't crowded yet so we got to see everything we wanted without waiting. First we got to test out the police car and meet a real live police man. One of the coolest parts was seeing the kids react to the different professionals who were present with their vehicles. It was like they were celebrities - it was so cute. Scott doesn't really get what police men and firemen etc. are yet but he did say 'hi' and 'thank you' (signed) to everyone he met.

There was this fun SWAT truck that we got to go in and check out the cool suit.

Just climbin' on trucks...a little boy's dream!

Amongst various other activities (see bounce house/slide in the background) there were fun digging pits throughout the park with shovels and dump trucks.

This dump truck was a huge it, every few minutes it would dump all the beach balls down and then the kids would get to throw them back in....

Too fun!!!

Scott really liked this part!

There were a few tractors that you could wait in line for and sit in the seat and make them dig. We waited for a few minutes but decided to fore go the tractor to see the helicopter land. And really Scott was a bit young for this, we were just waiting for a photo op for mommy.

This was by far the coolest part. We were a little bummed because Parker J. chose this one day to be the day he wanted to sleep in so he missed the landing, which is sad because he loves loves loves planes and helicopters.

Scott was a little overwhelmed by the wind and the noise but when it was all done he signed/said more, more, more, please, please, please, so I think he liked it.

Watching the officers get out of the helicopter.

Driving another big truck...

There were many activities. Scott had fun racing these cars down the ramp (different textures to teach kids about friction).

Hard hat area...safety first!

A natural with the jack hammer!

Firetruck!!!! The officer was so nice and gave Scott a Jr. Firefighter sticker!

Cement truck

Scott liked playing in the school bus, partly because it wasn't very crowded I think.

Mommy and Scott sporting the 'super excited face'

Yay school bus (I think the other reason he liked it was because we have ridden in one before...we took it as a shuttle to the Green City fair)

Daddy and Scott (with his Jr. Firefighter sticker - super coolness!)

A quick limo ride - no big thing ; )

Cherry pickin' baby!

Hanging out in the army hummer

Suuuuuch big wheels

High tech gadgets in the firetruck
Testing out the bumper car (it didn't drive, he just got to sit in it, no bumper cars in the near future for this chiropractic kiddo)

Parker J. made it - hurray - they both wanted to show each other things right away. Check them out both pointing in different directions...

Parker driving the dump truck

The crew walking over to see the helicopter - even though Parker didn't get to see it land, luckily it stayed so he still got to check it out!

The weather warmed up so Scott got to show off his firetruck shirt.

Playing in the dirt together

Hat twinsies again

Our last stop was the K-9 truck with the search dogs....Scott was so excited to pet them all and he was very good at being gentle.

After he met the dogs he got to have some baseball cards with the dogs he actually met on them...highlight of his drive home for sure was having those cards to play with and bark at.
What an great event. We can't wait to go again next year! The St. Amants came over after they were done with the trucks and we swam and BBQed the rest of the afternoon! We are welcoming summer with open arms!
