Summer is so close we can taste it.....

This past school year Scott did first grade for the second time.  The circumstances that led up to this were less than ideal, but the end result is more than we could have hoped for.  This is a picture of him at a school wide assembly performing a skit with his classmates about making good choices.  He's in the black sweatshirt holding the microphone.  Not only is he standing and speaking in front of his K-8 school, he's doing a skit that he wrote.  A year ago this would never have happened.  The growth and confidence he has built this year bring tears to my eyes.  We are so thankful for Ms. Marsi and so proud of our guy!

We also had the annual school fun run (worst day of the year if you ask me! haha).  Owen ran a few miles and had a blast despite it being the hottest day ever!

After the fun run is the after party....one of the reasons I don't care for fun run.  Super hot.  Carnival games.  Candy.

But watching the boys get to do the balloon break on their teachers heads never gets old.

Ms. Marsi being a good sport.

Thankfully my kids dislike fun run day only slightly less than i do - so by mid afternoon we were pool side.

We also had our first grade hike and tide pool field trip with our school naturalists, John and Ellen.

This could be one of my favorite field trips of all time!

Always different.  Always so many magical creatures to discover.

What can I say about this teacher?  We are so so lucky to have Ms. Tori.  Not many would come to afternoon baseball games not once, but twice (one for each boy) in one week.  Unfortunately I don't have one of her with Scott as she happened to be at Scott's teams first loss of the season, and Scott didn't feel social as he was in tears in the dugout.  Heart break!

Scott's book dedication:
Heart explosion.  Sports are his love language

After two hear breaking losses we decided these Cubs needed a pick me up.  The mascot arrived and we had a pizza party after practice!
