"I love to play with your ornaments!"
We decorated the tree a few days ago and Scott had a great time. He helped carefully hang some ornaments himself only to remove them moments later to play with. It is truly far too tempting for toddlers to leave ornaments on a tree. I mean its basically a tree full of smallish toys made just for them! We mostly left off the breakables, the few we put on are at the very top. The bottom of the tree has lots of soft ornaments and ones that Scott is allowed to take off and play with. We have had a few casualties but nothing some glue won't fix. Scott especially likes a wooden nutcracker ornament whom he calls "crackers"!
As you can see decorated only lasted so long then Scott just set up some ornaments to play with. The candy canes are plastic by the way - I do not let him just have 10 unwrapped candy canes to run around the house with.
We also retired the angel from the top of the tree for the year. She's pretty heavy and any movement of the tree (i.e. Scott pulling an ornament, or several, off) causes her to come crashing down. I'm on the hunt for another, lighter tree topper!
