While Daddy's away...

Over this past weekend Brian went to the lake with some family. Scott and I were invited but 3 days on the lake with a 5&1/2 month old, plus camping, plus a 4 hour drive each way, followed by another weekend of travel (seminar in San Francisco this weekend) and Hawaii soon after that, just did not sound like a good idea to me. Brian packed up and headed out Thursday so Scott and I planned ourselves a fun filled weekend to take our minds off of missing Daddy!

On Thursday we attempted to go to music class at the pump station but so many people showed up (it was a free, come see if you like it kind of class) that they had to reschedule us in smaller groups. So Hilary, Parker, Andy, Zoey, Scott and I went to lunch and then came back to my house for some quality girl and baby boy time! We had a great time chatting and playing with the babies, Zoey can definitely hold her own with the boys! And I'm pretty sure we all ate so many m&m's we weren't hungry for dinner!

Scott had a great time Friday morning playing with the baby in the mirror while I got ready for work!

He also had some quality time with Charlie!

Friday night Scott and I went to Target to pick up a few things I needed and I decided to spoil him by getting a few new toys! The bugs pictures below are the perfect replacement to the old Winnie the Pooh toys he has started sucking the paint off (these were my toys when I was a baby and I'm pretty sure they are not made with baby safe plastic or paint, at first I did not think it would be a problem but I think Scott sucks on them more than I did because half the paint is coming off, so they are getting retired). I also found a remote control with Sesame Street characters - such a hit, Scott loves our remote controls and has caused us to have to reboot our system a few times by playing with random buttons. I also found an awesome set of keys for him to play with. Again Scott's favorite toys are all things adult (keys, cameras, cell phones, etc.) and I'm not a germ-a-phobe but keys could be the dirtiest thing in the world and they are made with lead so they are a no go for Scott. And plastic keys - they don't fool anyone. What I found are metal keys (made from stainless steal) with a remote that makes noises - SCORE! He loves them and they are now a staple when we travel in the car.

On Saturday we went for our morning run, we tried going to the park but it was way too hot so we went to Barnes & Noble instead (we had to be outta the house for a showing) and looked at books and drank ice tea! Then Scott's Ta Ta Erin came for a visit. We went down to Hollywood for dinner at a cafe that I have been craving ever since I graduated chiropractic school (which was two years ago on the 15th....time FLIES!). Erin spent the night and we went to church on Sunday. Brian and I are trying to find a church to call home so I have a list of churches to try out. This was Scott's first time to church and he did pretty well. We sat in the "parent's room" which was nice because I didn't have to worry about shrieks of joy. Scott really liked the parts where we stood up and sang, but an hour of sitting and listening - yeah right! He crawled around and played with toys and even shared his toys with a little girl who was just fascinated with Scott. We definitely liked the church and will probably go back with Brian to see what he thinks! Sunday afternoon Grandma Karen and Grandpa Ken came in for a quick visit over lunch. It was a great fun filled day and then Daddy finally came home - it was so much fun to see the excitement on Scott's face when Brian came through the door!

Mommy & Me Yoga...and cookies

Scott crawlin' all over the place!

We put the babies in front of us on tummy time while we did cobra...Robin said "maybe your babies will mimic you"....Scott said "maybe I will use this time to crawl around".

Flying on my knees while we held a pose (no idea what it was called) was Scott's favorite!

Parker got to fly on Robin's knees!

Scott with his favorite yoga teacher, he looks like he is almost half of her size!

Parker J. just lovin' yoga with his mommy!
Today was the first postpartum yoga class at the pump station. It was a blast! Scott and I are already looking forward to next week! It was great to see mommies and babies from our mommy group as well as some we did yoga with before Scott and Parker were born. The babies loved doing poses and being social with each other. Scott loved showing off his crawling abilities!!! He was such a ham for the photographer too! The pump station also has a baby scale so I decided Scott needed a weigh in...he hasn't been weighed since his 4 month well baby visit when he was 16 lbs 9 oz...today he was....drum roll please.....dum da da dum: 20.02lbs! Holy cow big boy...clearly we never miss a meal!

After yoga we made a batch of cookies for Daddy to take to the lake with him this weekend! This was Scott's first baking experience. Don't worry I didn't let him taste any cookie dough (although I have a feeling when he finally gets to, he's gonna dig it!!!) but I did give him his own spatula to play with and I held him up to watch the kitchen aid mix the batter...he was fascinated!

"I hope you enjoy your cookies as much as I enjoy this spatula, Daddy!"

S is for...

Scott and Parker got these jammies before they were born to wear next Christmas...turns out they are growing way too fast for that! So they get them now! Too stinkin' cute!

Sunday Funday

Yesterday we started the day with Sunday brunch...no pictures except for these of Ryker with chocolate fondue! Have you ever seen a kid so excited to be covered in chocolate?

We met The Daniels and the Blacks for brunch and had a long leisurely meal (champagne included - except for me!). Brian and I especially loved watching Ryker tackle the chocolate fondue and gummy bears...especially when he wanted more gummy bears and his parents said no he said "Ok I'll just go get some more for you!" I love seeing what we have to look forward to! Scott did well at brunch until the last 45 minutes or so...then he was just ready to get down and crawl and he wanted to grab everything on the table! Thanks to all our great friends for letting us pass him around to keep him entertained so we could eat!

After brunch everyone came back to our house for some pool time! And Adam made us delicious ribs for dinner!

Don't I have the cutest boys ever?

Scott thinks Ryker is the coolest guy around!

We had such a fun day with everyone! I just love summer!

I'll take ya for a ride on my big green tractor...

Just too darn cute in his hat! I thought the hat would be a bit big...turns out Scott has a giant noggin! And what a drooler! Thanks for my cool hat Aunt Charlotte!

Double Trouble

We took the double stroller out for its maiden voyage today! We are taking the boys to San Francisco and Catalina this month, so that combined with everything else we do together we figured we should pick up a double stroller for trips, babysitting, grandparent time etc. Here is what we learned: (1) Scott should be in the front seat because he kicked the back of Parker's seat the whole time. (2) The sun shades are terrible and don't cover their faces if you are walking towards the sun...always carry a receiving blanket for this purpose...in this case we used one of Brian's bright orange UOP shirts from my car...very fashionable! (3) When pushing a double stroller everyone will assume its twins! (4) If both babies end up wanting to be carried there is no one left to push the stroller...don't forget your front pack!
All in all it was a good pick up!

Cute boys

At yesterday's Mommy group all the boys showed up matching in their red, white & blue! Not planned but too cute!
