Field trippin'

Yesterday we went on our second field trip with school.  A train ride to the fish hatchery.  Yahoo.  And bonus:  they encouraged us to invite friends, so Parker J. and Auntie tagged along for the day.

Waiting to board.  Parker J. brought his "ductor" hat and was nice enough to let Scott have a turn (mommy couldn't find, ahem forgot to look for, Scott's, but I packed a mean snack and changes of clothes so it wasn't a total fail, and we were on time, win!)

Stoked for his first ever train ride.

We rode over in the dining car, so of course we ate our snack very first thing.

In the tunnel.  WIDE EYED!!!!  Fun fact: it was a very short tunnel that went through nothing, but was made for Disney's filming of 'Escape to Witch Mountain'.

Lovin' his first train trip too!

At the fish hatchery all the kids got a cup of fish food.  The boys started slow and fed the fish one pellet at a time, slowly they graduated to 5-10 pellets and once they realized this created the swarm effect, they both dumped their cups.  I thought they would be bummed that it was gone but they were so happy with the fish commotion, worth it I guess.

Owen watching the fish.

I think I have a shot of the big boys doing this anytime we go anywhere together.  Its redundant, but sweet.  And cute story:  Scott tripped and scraped his hand.  He cried for a second and Auntie checked on him and asked if he needed a kiss to make it feel better.  He said yes and then raised his scraped hand to Parker J. to kiss it better.  Are they best buds or what?

It was 80+ degrees and the boys were sweaty and hot when we got back on the train to ride home.  Good thing we had lots of water and of course, more snacks.

And after all that excitement Owen took a one hour nap.  You are killin' me kid!  I guess he was just ready to be up for more adventures!
