Ladybug Party

Yesterday we headed up to Mimi and Papa's house to help them release ladybugs into their garden.  Parker J., Zoey, Kenzie, Ryder and their mamas joined us so I started calling it a "Ladybug Party" and poor Scott, now a days when he hears party he thinks bounce house, balloons and cake.  Fortunately this time he wasn't too far off (except for the bounce house), Mimi went all out for our bug themed day!

These two.  Friends since prenatal yoga almost 4 years ago.

The day started out with some bug themed crafts: Painting and decorating picture frames....

and decorating big lady bugs with moveable wings

While the kids were crafting Mimi and Papa hid some plastic bugs so when they finished they went on a bug hunt.

After that it was time for the main event:

They all got front row seats to the 1,500 ladybugs that were about to be released. (Ryder was feeling shy but joined the circle a minute or two later)

BUGS EVERYWHERE

Scott's "its tickling me" face

After the bugs dispersed it was time for dessert.
Dirt dessert.  Complete with worms.
Everyone loved it.  Parker J. was a little hesitant about the worms,  "are they real worms?  are you sure?"  and after he reminded us several times that we don't eat real dirt or real worms.

Picture overload of Owen chowin' because this kid cracks me up when he eats.

Kenz dumped hers and got busy

LOVIN' IT

By the end Owen looked like he'd been in a fight.
Mimi used almond milk based chocolate pudding (Zen organics brand, found at whole foods) and gluten free Joe Joe's (basically oreos) to make it a tummy friendly dessert for our kiddos.

Auntie texted me this picture from releasing the ladybugs and frankly I'm too lazy to move it back to make it fit chronologically. Scott said, "I got one!"

It was a super successful "Monday at Mimi's" {and Papa's}.  Everyone headed out around 4:00 but Brian had texted me that he was working late + I didn't want Owen to nap in the car from 4-5, so the boys and I stuck around til after dinner and bath (and ice cream cones, because why have one dessert in a day when you can have two...???)
Thanks for a great day Mimi and Papa and Aunties and Cousins!
